Profile

Colonel Winston Mayer is a fictional character on CBS's daytime drama As the World Turns. He is portrayed by Daniel Hugh Kelly and made his first appearance on July 5, 2007. He came to Oakdale to see his son, Noah Mayer, who was dating Maddie Coleman at the time. Winston encouraged the relationship, even offering to help pay for the couple to buy a new bed so they could move in together, but Noah had feelings for Luke Snyder, not Maddie, and admitted as much to them both despite fearing Winston's reaction. After reacting with anger upon discovering the pair kissing, Winston pretended to have a change of heart, convincing Noah to invite Luke on a fishing trip. During the trip he tried to kill Luke, resulting in Luke's paralysis from the waist down. Winston attempted to kill Luke again at the hospital but was stopped by Dusty Donovan and arrested for the murder of his wife, Cheri. He left the show on November 20, 2007 when he was taken off to prison following a final confrontation with Luke and Noah.

Kelly returned for a second run in the role of Winston Mayer beginning on May 6, 2008, when Noah visited him in prison. Two weeks later he escaped and took Noah's green-card wife, Ameera, to New York City. He then tried to take Ameera back to Iraq, but when Luke and the police arrived, he jumped off the side of his boat, leaving everyone to think he's dead.

Winston is thought to be dead until he uses a thought to be dead Adam Hughes, who was pretending to be Riley Campbell, to get Noah to come to an abandoned army base. The plan failed after Casey Hughes discovered that Riley was a fraud and told Noah about it. Colonel Mayer then snagged Noah outside Java and took him back to the base to ask him for help in his escape. Luke and his father Damian Gramaldi show up and have Colonel Mayer arrested. He is not seen after June 29, 2009.
